School IT Installations & Projects
From a single classroom refit to a complete new-build school, AIT plans, installs and hands over IT infrastructure for schools and trusts across the UK. One project manager, one delivery team, one plan you can actually see — and because we're a managed service provider first, everything we install is built to be supported for years, not just signed off on the day.
With over 20 years experience in support infrastructure in schools and MATs across the UK, our experienced team of Project Managers and Installation Engineers are here to help your projects run smoothly with seamless integration into your digital infrastructure. With comprehensive experience in New Build Schools Consultancy, existing site upgrades and development; AIT are with you every step of the way.

UK-wide delivery. Education only. Installations, support and connectivity from one provider.
Projects we deliver
Whether the DfE is funding a brand-new site, your trust is bringing a school up to the DfE digital standards, or you simply need the hall re-cabled before September, our installations department delivers it as a managed project — surveyed, scheduled, installed and documented.
New-build schools
Working alongside architects, main contractors and the DfE, we design and deliver the full IT estate for new-build schools — cabling containment, wireless, switching, servers, telephony and classroom technology — so the site opens connected on day one.
Refurbishments & site upgrades
Ageing switch stacks, patchy Wi-Fi, cabinets nobody dares open: we bring existing sites up to current standards in planned phases, working around the school day so teaching never stops.
Summer works
The six-week window is where most school infrastructure work happens. We scope in the spring term, pre-stage hardware in advance, and deliver over the holidays so everything is tested and live before staff return.
Network & data cabling
Network cabling is the backbone of your network, connecting the infrastructure and devices together. This includes connections from the internet, data cabinets, switches and hard wired devices that are connected to the network. The right network cabling means that your connections all have the right foundation to enable a truly seamless digital journey. Our specialist team can help your school or Trust navigate the recommended standards from the DfE so that you can meet the technical standards.
CCTV & access control
Our dedicated installations team are here to support your school or MAT in planning, installing and maintaining an effective CCTV System or Access Control Solution across one or multiple sites. We consider all aspects when looking for the right solution to secure your site; from global access cards across Trust-Wide sites that can integrate from Access Control through to printing solutions to more bespoke requirements. We are with you from design, implementation and ongoing support.
Consultancy & procurement
We are proud to have consulted on various new build schools across the UK with the DfE. Our expert team can help you navigate the complex procurement process, ensuring the project and any purchases are streamlined to maximise value and efficiency. With a dedicated team, we are constantly striving to enhance all aspects of our processes so that your experience with us is of the highest standard; meeting and exceeding your expectations.

How your project runs
Every AIT project follows the same five stages — and at every stage you can see exactly where things stand, because our delivery is run through the same platforms our whole company runs on. They're included with our service, not sold on top.
Survey
An engineer walks your site — every riser, cabinet and classroom — and we document what's actually there, not what the last provider's paperwork claims.
Design & quote
You get a fixed design with clear options, mapped against DfE technical standards where they apply, with every hardware line itemised in a formal quotation.
Schedule
Your project is broken into milestones and crewed around your calendar — evenings, weekends and holidays included — so work never collides with teaching, exams or open days.
Install
Qualified, DBS-checked engineers deliver to the design, with a named project manager as your single point of contact throughout.
Handover
You receive test results, labelled documentation and as-built drawings — and because AIT is your support partner too, the team who installed it is the team who answers the phone afterwards.
Every milestone tracked in AIT Atlas
AIT Atlas is the operations platform our whole company runs on — people, projects, schools and technology, in one system. Navigate. Manage. Deliver.
When your project is approved, it becomes a milestone plan in Atlas. The Rota module schedules the right installation crew to your site for each phase; Fleet makes sure the vans, lifts and test kit arrive with them. Your project manager works from the same live plan the engineers do — so when you ask "where are we?", the answer is a milestone, a date and a name, not a guess.
- Site survey & cabinet audit — Complete
- First-fix cabling, Blocks A–C — Complete
- Core switching installed — In progress — w/c 17 Aug
- Wireless survey & AP mounting — Scheduled
- Testing, certification & handover — Scheduled — before term starts
Atlas is one of four platforms included with AIT's service — see them all via the Customer Portal.

Every box tracked in AIT Ordering
A school project can involve hundreds of hardware lines — switches, access points, screens, door controllers — from multiple suppliers. AIT Ordering tracks every one of them from quote to purchase order to delivery, so nothing arrives late, unordered or unaccounted for.
Your quotation is built from a maintained catalogue of education-grade kit, our supplier management keeps pricing honest across distributors, and once you approve, each line carries its PO through to delivery confirmation at your site or our staging facility. On a typical refurbishment — say 40 access points, 6 switches and 30 classroom screens — your business manager can see what's ordered, what's in transit and what's already on site, without a single chasing email. (Figures illustrative.)

A DEDICATED TEAM
Round the clock solutions
AIT have a completely dedicated team of project managers and installation engineers who run all our installation solutions across the UK. We prioritise ongoing training and development for our installation teams. They are fully qualified and hold the necessary accreditations to deploy solutions to current best practices and in alignment with your specific requirements. Our flexible team can accommodate round the clock installations that don't disrupt the learning environment so you can continue to deliver the very best to your pupils.

Summer works: the earlier we talk, the smoother it goes
The best summer projects are scoped by Easter. Surveying in the spring term means hardware is ordered and staged before schools break up, crews are booked in Atlas for the exact weeks your site is empty, and there's contingency left if a ceiling void throws up a surprise. If you're weighing up work for next summer — or your trust is planning a multi-site programme — the right time to talk is now.
Thinking longer term? Our IT vision and digital strategy service builds installations into a funded multi-year roadmap, with hardware refresh cycles and 5-year cost projections visible to your leadership team in AIT Horizon's IT Finance module — so projects stop being surprises and start being line items you planned for.
Hear What Our Clients Had to Say…
"Above and beyond"
"Our Trust have worked with AIT for almost ten years. In that time we have developed a trusting relationship, and they are continually looking for ways in which to improve the service to our schools. As their team have grown, so have their capabilities, but they have never lost that personal approach which is what separates them from counterparts. If you're looking for a provider who can really deliver…look no further than AIT!"

AIT still have the personal approach though to services which really does count for a lot, it means that anything we need or advice – they're always there to lend a helping hand"

"'High Standards Always'"
"AIT were a name which cropped up when we were in the initial phases of looking for a managed service provider. Our requirements were quite niche and we needed to work with an agile supplier who would be able to react quickly but facilitate the high standards we needed to achieve. I'm thrilled with the progress so far and look forward to many more years to come!"
S. Mitchell — CEO

Installation & project FAQs
Yes — this is the norm for us, not the exception. Our installation teams work evenings, weekends and school holidays, and larger programmes are phased so occupied areas are never work sites during the school day. Summer works are scoped in the spring term so the noisy, disruptive phases happen while the site is empty, and everything is tested before staff return in September.
Yes. We have consulted on new-build schools across the UK alongside the DfE, working with architects and main contractors from the design stage. Getting IT into a new build early — containment routes, cabinet locations, wireless design — costs a fraction of retrofitting it after handover, so the earlier we're involved, the better the outcome.
Your project lives as a milestone plan in AIT Atlas, our operations platform, so your project manager can always tell you exactly which phase is complete, in progress or scheduled — and every hardware line is tracked from quote to purchase order to delivery in AIT Ordering. Both are included with our service, not sold on top, and you'll find them alongside our other platforms in the Customer Portal.
Yes. Our dedicated installations department — project managers and installation engineers — delivers across the UK, from single-site primary schools to multi-site trust programmes. Crews and vehicles are scheduled centrally through Atlas, which is how we keep multi-region programmes on one coordinated plan.
Handover includes test certification, labelled documentation and as-built drawings — and then the relationship really starts. As a managed service provider, we support what we install: the same estate documentation flows into our IT support service, and future refresh cycles can be planned into your budget through our digital strategy work rather than arriving as surprises.
