IT support for schools across the UK

Advanced IT Services supports 249 schools and 20 multi-academy trusts nationwide — helpdesk support, installations and connectivity delivered by our own 75-strong team, wherever your school is. Coverage isn’t a promise we make on a map; it’s a rota we plan every week.

National coverage, run like a local service

Plenty of providers claim national coverage. The honest question is how — because a school in Cumbria and a school in Kent both deserve an engineer who turns up on the right day, knows the site, and doesn’t treat the visit as an away fixture.

Our answer has three layers. First, a 24/7 helpdesk and remote monitoring resolve the majority of issues without anyone travelling at all — your IT support starts working the moment you call, wherever you are. Second, scheduled technician days put a consistent, familiar engineer on your site at a rhythm that suits your school, from weekly primary visits to embedded secondary support. Third, our in-house installation crews deliver cabling, wireless and infrastructure projects UK-wide, planned around term dates and handed over documented and supported — including work funded through programmes like DfE Connect the Classroom.

Head office and our two ISO 27001-compliant data centres sit in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. Our engineers, though, are rostered nationally — which is where the next section comes in.

The platform that makes “UK-wide” mean something

AIT Atlas is the operations platform we built to run our own business — people, projects, schools and technology ops in one place. It’s the reason we can say “yes, we cover you” to a school anywhere in the UK and mean it operationally, not aspirationally:

  • Rota plans every scheduled visit, project milestone and callout nationally, matching each job to an engineer by skills, site familiarity and travel time — so your school sees consistent faces, not whoever was nearest to a whiteboard.
  • Fleet makes sure the van heading to your school carries what the job needs — switches, access points, spares, loan devices — so distance doesn’t turn into a second visit.
  • CRM holds every site’s story: contacts, access arrangements, kit, history. An engineer arriving at a school three hours from head office starts with the same full picture as one arriving ten minutes away.
  • HR tracks training, certifications and DBS status for everyone we send into a school, wherever that school is.

As an illustration: a new-client school 150 miles from head office gets its onboarding survey, its recurring technician day and its first term’s project milestones planned in Atlas before the contract ink is dry — travel, kit and cover included. That’s what coverage means here.

Atlas is one of four platforms we’ve built in-house. Like AIT Horizon, Helpdesk Reporting and AIT Ordering, it’s included with our service, not sold on top.

Illustrative — engineer coverage is planned weekly in Atlas

No postcode tiers. No “remote-only” small print.

Every school we support gets the whole service — the location changes the travel time, not the offer:

One helpdesk, 24/7.

The same team, the same ticket priorities, whether you’re in Nottingham or Northumberland.

Scheduled onsite days as standard.

Consistent engineers rostered to your school through Atlas — familiarity is a scheduling rule for us, not a lucky accident.

Installations delivered nationally.

Our own crews, not subcontractors, for cabling and wireless, connectivity and summer works.

The four platforms, included.

AIT Horizon gives your leaders Executive, Schools and Support views — including IT Finance with illustrative 5-year projections and hardware-refresh planning, and a RAG compliance tracker. Helpdesk Reporting gives them the Executive overview and KPI Insights, with per-trust filters for MATs. AIT Ordering tracks procurement from quote to PO to delivery. All behind one Customer Portal login — included with our service, not sold on top.

Sector-fit support at every phase.

We’d rather show our working

Search for school IT support in any UK town and you’ll find pages that swap the place name and call it local expertise. We don’t do that — every regional page we publish carries its own real story, and where we don’t yet have one, this page is the honest answer: our team is national, our rota is real, and your school’s coverage plan gets designed before we ask you to sign anything.

If you want the fuller picture of who we are, start with about AIT or why schools choose us. If you want the shorter version: 249 schools and 20 trusts already did.

Coverage, answered

Almost certainly, yes. We support schools and multi-academy trusts across the whole of the UK, with a 24/7 helpdesk, remote monitoring, scheduled onsite technician days and national installation crews. Our engineer rota is planned in AIT Atlas around where our schools actually are, so coverage is built for your location rather than assumed. The quickest way to be sure is to call 0115 9170 197 or send us your postcode — we’ll tell you straight away how your support model would work.

That’s where we grew from — Nottingham in 2000 — and our head office and two ISO 27001-compliant data centres are still in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. But today our 249 schools and 20 trusts are spread across the UK, and our support model was built for distance: remote-first resolution, nationally rostered engineers and project crews that deliver anywhere. The regional pages on this site reflect where we’re densest, not the limits of where we work.

The same way they work everywhere: your school gets scheduled technician days at an agreed rhythm, planned in Atlas so the visiting engineer is consistent, briefed on your site and carrying the right kit. Distance is a travel-planning fact, not a service tier — a confirmed date is a kept date wherever you are. Urgent issues are handled 24/7 by the helpdesk first, which resolves most incidents without waiting for a van at all.

Yes — that’s exactly the shape of client we built for. A multi-academy trust with sites in three counties gets one helpdesk, one account relationship and one rota that covers every school, plus per-trust filters in Helpdesk Reporting so central teams see every site’s support picture in one place. See how we work with multi-academy trusts.

Right now: Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and the East Midlands — the areas where our school community is most concentrated. We add a regional page only when there’s a genuine local story to tell on it, because a page that just swaps the town name helps nobody. Wherever you are, the service is the same — this page is the front door.

Wherever your school is, there’s a rostered route to it

249 schools. 20 trusts. One national team, planned to the mile. Tell us where you are and we’ll show you exactly what your coverage looks like — no obligation, no postcode lottery.
