IT Support for Schools in Nottingham

Advanced IT Services was founded inside a Nottingham school in 2000 — and our head office, our engineers’ home patch and our deepest school relationships are still here. Today we support 249 schools and 20 multi-academy trusts across the whole of the UK, but if your school is in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire, you’re closer to our front door than anyone: the same IT support service we deliver nationally, with our shortest drive attached.

We didn’t move to Nottingham. We started in one of its schools.

In 2000, AIT began at George Spencer Academy in Stapleford, providing IT support and services to the site — built by people doing the job we now deliver for schools across the country. More than twenty-five years later, that very first school is still with us, which we think says more about how we work than any brochure could.

The company that grew from that server room never left. Our head office and our ISO 27001-compliant data centres sit in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire — minutes from the M1 and the city — and many of our 75-strong team live in the school communities we serve, from Beeston and Stapleford to West Bridgford, Arnold and Hucknall. When a Nottingham school calls us, it isn’t reaching a regional branch of a distant provider. It’s calling the place where the whole thing started.

That local depth is why Nottingham gets its own page — but it’s the same service, the same ticket priorities and the same platforms we deliver to every school we support, from Cornwall to Cumbria. Read the full national picture on where we work.

From single-form-entry primaries to city-spanning trusts

Nottingham’s school landscape is one of the most varied in the country, and after twenty-five years here we’ve supported every shape of it. Whatever yours looks like, there’s a support model built for it — fully managed, on-demand or third-line, exactly as described on our IT support for schools page.

City primaries

Compact sites, stretched budgets and no in-house IT — the schools where a failed whiteboard at 8:55am is a teaching emergency. Scheduled technician days at a rhythm that suits a primary school, backed by a 24/7 helpdesk that resolves most issues before a visit is needed.

Secondaries and academies

Larger estates across the city and the county — Mansfield, Newark, Worksop, Retford and everywhere between — with 1:1 device schemes, exam-season pressure and in-house technicians who sometimes need a deeper bench. Our secondary school support flexes from fully managed to third-line escalation behind your own team.

Multi-academy trusts

Nottinghamshire’s trusts span city and county sites, and central teams need one picture of all of them. One helpdesk, one relationship, per-trust filters in Helpdesk Reporting and the Executive view in AIT Horizon — see how we work with trusts.

Independent schools

Term-by-term budget planning and a distinctive identity to protect. Our independent school support offers on-demand and pooled-hours models alongside fully managed contracts.

Our fastest onsite response — behind a helpdesk that usually gets there first

Every AIT school, wherever it is in the UK, gets the same remote-first service: a 24/7 helpdesk staffed by qualified engineers, remote monitoring, and most issues resolved at first contact without anyone travelling at all. Response targets are published on our Ticket Priorities page — the same commitments for a school in Nottingham as for one three hundred miles away.

What Nottingham adds is proximity. This is our densest engineer cluster, planned weekly in AIT Atlas, our own operations platform — so when a fault genuinely needs hands on site, the engineer heading your way is likely to be someone whose daily patch already includes your postcode. Head office is minutes from M1 junction 25; the city, the A52 corridor and the county towns are our home ground, not an away fixture. For scheduled work, that means technician days with consistent, familiar faces. For urgent onsite escalations, it means the shortest travel times we can offer anywhere in the country.

We say that carefully: proximity is a geographic fact, not a different service tier. Our contractual response commitments are the published ticket priorities, everywhere. Nottingham schools simply enjoy the version of AIT with the least tarmac in it.

Every Nottingham school sees exactly how we’re performing

Being the local firm doesn’t earn us a pass on evidence. Every AIT support contract includes Helpdesk Reporting, our own transparency platform — no premium tier, no per-seat licence. Your headteacher, business manager or trust board sees your school’s actual support performance all year round: SLA compliance against the published priorities, first-time fix rates, response times and satisfaction scores, with KPI Insights that show which rooms, devices or systems generate the most tickets.

Illustrative figures — your school sees its own numbers in Helpdesk Reporting.

Helpdesk Reporting is one of four platforms we’ve built in-house and include with our service, not sold on top. AIT Horizon gives your leadership team the bigger picture — IT finance with 5-year projections, RAG compliance tracking, policies and your strategy roadmap. AIT Atlas plans every visit and project. AIT Ordering handles procurement from quote to delivery. All of it sits behind one login at the Customer Portal.

The whole service, with home advantage

One 24/7 helpdesk.

Calls answered by qualified engineers at our Long Eaton service desk — the same team, the same ticket priorities, whether you’re in Sherwood or Southwell.

Scheduled technician days.

Consistent engineers rostered through Atlas, at a rhythm agreed around your school’s calendar — weekly primary visits to embedded secondary support.

Installations by our own crews.

Cabling and wireless, broadband and connectivity and summer works, delivered by the team that supports them afterwards — including projects funded through DfE Connect the Classroom.

Security and safeguarding.

KCSIE-aligned filtering and monitoring and school IT security, backed by our ISO 27001-compliant UK data centres.

The four platforms, included.

Horizon, Helpdesk Reporting, Atlas and Ordering — one Customer Portal login, included with our service, not sold on top.

Strongest here. Present everywhere.

Nottingham is where we’re densest, not where we stop. The same team, platforms and published service levels support schools and trusts across the whole of the UK — the full story is on where we work, and our neighbouring patches have pages of their own:

School somewhere else entirely? That’s most of our newer clients — tell us where you are and we’ll show you exactly how your coverage would work.

IT support in Nottingham, answered

Yes — and everywhere else in the UK. We support 249 schools and 20 multi-academy trusts nationwide, with a 24/7 helpdesk, remote monitoring, scheduled technician days and national installation crews. Nottingham happens to be where we started and where our head office and largest engineer cluster are based, so local schools get the shortest travel times we offer anywhere. Call 0115 9170 197 or send us your postcode and we’ll talk through exactly how your support would work.

Most issues never need a van: our helpdesk resolves the majority of tickets remotely, at first contact, against the response targets published on our Ticket Priorities page. When a visit is needed, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire sit inside our densest engineer patch, planned weekly in AIT Atlas — head office is minutes from M1 junction 25, so city and county schools are our shortest drives. The commitments are the same published priorities every AIT school gets; the geography just works in your favour.

It is. We began at George Spencer Academy in Stapleford in 2000, providing IT support to the site from the inside — and that first school is still with us today. We’ve since grown into a 75-strong, education-only team supporting schools and trusts across the UK, with head office and ISO 27001-compliant data centres in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. The story is told in full on why schools choose us.

Not at all. Our engineer rota covers Nottinghamshire’s county towns as naturally as the city — visits are planned in Atlas around where our schools actually are, and the county has been part of our patch since the beginning. The service, the platforms and the ticket priorities are identical wherever your site is.

Honestly? Nothing — and that’s deliberate. Every AIT school gets the whole offer: 24/7 helpdesk, scheduled onsite days, our own installation crews, and all four platforms through the Customer Portal, included rather than sold on top. What Nottingham adds is proximity and history: the shortest onsite travel times we can offer, and a provider whose roots in your city go back to 2000. See the full service on IT support for schools.
