Testing your broadband speed

Published · Back to Knowledge Base

Broadband speeds can vary considerably from site to site.

A simple broadband speed test can be performed at https://www.speedtest.net

This will display two sets of figures - download speeds and upload speeds. These figures can be very useful when trying to troubleshoot problems with online services.

Sometimes, poor speeds can be a result of local problems such as a poor Wi-Fi connection - try sitting closer to an access point on site if possible, and test again to see if the results improve.

Rebooting your router may also help.

If you're still experiencing poor results, you should contact your Internet Service Provider. If AIT are your ISP, please log a ticket with the results of your speed test and details of where this test was performed.
